Virtual Reality Headset Training

Peterborough Virtual School has invested in headsets to support the delivery of immersive virtual reality training. This training is designed to develop adults’ understanding of the effects of relational and developmental trauma and loss on children and young people. It encourages the development of professional curiosity, a ‘trauma lens’.

We are delighted to now be able to offer three different sessions. If you would like guidance on the suitability of which session for your audience, please contact you link education advisor.

An Introduction to Developmental Trauma

This introductory session follows Rayleigh’s journey from pre-birth through adolescence, illustrating how early developmental trauma shapes her behaviour and development. Through her story, participants gain deeper insight into the lived experience of children and young people affected by trauma, fostering greater empathy and understanding.

Children Known to Social care and Child Criminal Exploitation

Building on the Introduction to Developmental Trauma, this session explores why children known to social care are more vulnerable to exploitation. It highlights the pivotal role of relationships and stresses the importance of professional curiosity in schools, encouraging staff to look beyond surface behaviours and engage with children in a way that fosters trust, safety and early intervention.

Children Known to Social Care and Child Sexual Exploitation

Training is delivered in schools, settings and education providers at no charge. Members of the Virtual School team will come in and deliver in person either as part of a training day or as a twilight session. Sessions run for approximately 90 minutes and a maximum of 22 delegates can be accommodated.
