The GRT Liaison support is part of the council's Children Missing from Education and School Admissions Team supporting vulnerable children to reach their potential.
We provide extra support and help for families who are Romany, Roma, Gypsy, New Traveller, Showman Guild, Circus, and Irish Traveller.
We advocate on behalf of Traveller families and offer support and advice on things like:
Finding school places
- Finding nursery places
- Finding a college place
- School transport
- Equality and fairness
- Progress in school
- Racism and bullying
- School attendance
- School suspensions and exclusions
- Special educational needs
We can also signpost to other agencies for more specialist support, if required.
We are a trusted link for families and build positive relationships with Traveller families to improve educational outcomes for their children.
