Primary School Support Offer

The Primary School Improvement Offer provides opportunity for Local Authority Maintained Schools or Academies to buy in to a range of high quality support which can be tailored to meet the needs of each individual school.

The Primary Offer Leaflet can be accessed at the bottom of the page, which includes details of costs for each package. You can also find an overview of the support available from the School Improvement Service under each heading.

  • Named Adviser
  • Schools’ Newsletter
  • Headteacher Briefing updates
  • Annual Monitoring Visit – (LA maintained schools)
  • CPD offer from School Improvement and other teams in the Education Directorate.  

Access to the following services:

• Named Adviser

• An Annual Monitoring Visit, involving a self-evaluation review,discussion of school improvement priorities and targets for 2024-25

• Support for Ofsted including, School Improvement Adviser attending feedback. Meeting or telephone contact with inspector

• Ongoing support by telephone and email as required

Examples of activities we can support include, but are not limited to:

• Analysis of data

• Curriculum Audit

• Quality assurance of teaching and learning

• Monitoring of teaching and learning

• Work Scrutiny

• Leadership and management advice and training

• Support for statutory assessment of the EYFS, Phonics, KS1 and KS2

• Support and advice for improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils

• Data training for Senior and Middle Leaders

• Working with leaders on deep dives

• Visit from Early Years, English or Maths Adviser

• Support to develop Forest Schools

• Website Audit

The focus of visits will be agreed with the link SIA and Headteacher based on the school’s needs and improvement priorities.

Subject Leader Network Meetings

• English subject leaders (3 x half day for up to 2 delegates)

• Mathematics subject leaders (3 x half day for up to 2 delegates)

• Early Years leaders (3 x half day for up to 2 delegates) 

Phonics and Early Reading Package

• Leadership of Phonics and Early Reading Network Meetings x 3 (targeted and all schools) plus two additional sessions (usually school visits or workshops based on delegates needs)

.• Additional school visits can be purchased to support phonics at the “Pay as you go” rates

This package includes access to:

• 'Understanding End of KS1 Expectations' sessions include 1 X reading, 1 X writing and 1 x mathematics'

• 'Year 2 Assessment / Moderation Workshops' sessions include 1 X reading, 1 X writing and 1 X mathematics'

• The full price is charged following attendance at the first Understanding End of KS1 Expectations session and is non-refundable as schools commit to the full package of sessions. The price is a discounted rate compared to each session being booked individually.

This package includes:

• ‘Key Stage 2 Familiarisation’ Session

• ‘Key Stage 2 Moderation Workshop’

• ‘Cross School Cluster Moderation’ for schools not moderated 2023.

• The full price is charged at the Key Stage 2 Familiarisation session and is non-refundable as schools commit to the full package of sessions.The price is a discounted rate compared to each session being booked individually.
